Projet Upcycling : Making Christmas ornements from recycled materials and fabrics

The holidays are upon us, a perfect opportunity to sit down with the kids and show them how they can make easy and incredible projects with re-used and recycled materials. At Message Factory, we are full of creativity and it is always a pleasure to share our inspiring ideas to re-use materials that would otherwise end up in the landfills.

Required material :

-       One white or color sock

-       Rice, peas or lentils

-       Cord or rubber band

-       Fabric left over or felt

-       Black or colorful buttons

-       Stuffing (can come from an old pillow)

-       Hot glue

-       Scissor

-       Various decorations (ribbon, glitter, pom poms)

-       Permanent marker

Begin with a sock and fill the bottom (of the foot) with rice or else so the base can stand up.

Then fill half with stuffing and tie.

Fold the top to form a cap or cut the excess if desired.

Use hot glue to add a ribbon to the neck, hat, buttons

Use a felt pen to draw eyes, mouth, and carrot for the nose.
